Cycle through the coast and hinterland while ten historical characters guide you through the story of a vanished island. With an interactive web app, game elements, and captivating stories, cycling becomes a true expedition!

- Total distance: 42.8 km (can be divided into two shorter loops of approximately 20 km each, one around Middelkerke and one around Ostend)

- What do you need? A smartphone and mobile internet connection. No app download is required; everything is available online.
Testerep Expedition is a themed cycling route of approximately 42.8 km that can easily be split into two loops. You can start anywhere along the route and cycle through the coastal region and hinterland using the existing cycling network.
Along the way, you will discover ten locations where you can scan a Testerep coin. Through short stories, videos, and interactive challenges, historical characters tell you about life on the island, the battle against the sea, and how the landscape has evolved over the centuries.
This is not a traditional history lesson, but an active journey of discovery. Perfect for families with teenagers, curious adults, and anyone who enjoys experiencing stories while cycling.
Free cycling map
From 24 June onwards, pick up your free cycling map at the Tourist Information Offices of Westende, Middelkerke or Ostend, or at the Provincial Domain Atlantikwall Raversyde. Do you use a cycling GPS device? You can also download HERE the route free of charge in digital format (.gpx).
